Knighted #1 (Release Date: November 2021) | AWA Studios
What happens when an ordinary man accidentally kills a superhero—and is forced to take his place?
Knighted #1 launches a darkly humorous and action-packed superhero series from AWA Studios, written by Gregg Hurwitz with artwork by Mark Texeira. Released in November 2021, this debut issue introduces a very different kind of masked vigilante story, where becoming a superhero isn't a dream come true—it's an unexpected nightmare.
Meet Bob Ryder, an ordinary New Yorker whose life takes a bizarre turn when he accidentally kills the city's mysterious armored vigilante known as the Knight.
Instead of walking away from the incident, Bob discovers that the Knight's secret organization has other plans for him. With the city's criminal underworld still in need of someone to fear, Bob is recruited to assume the fallen hero's identity.
There's just one problem: Bob has absolutely no idea how to be a superhero.
Now armed with advanced technology, dangerous equipment, and an identity he never wanted, Bob must learn to survive against criminals who believe they're facing the original Knight.
Blending superhero satire, crime noir, dark comedy, and high-stakes action, Knighted #1 offers a fresh twist on the masked vigilante genre. The series explores what happens when an everyday person is suddenly handed the responsibilities—and dangers—of being a legendary crimefighter.
For fans of Batman, Kick-Ass, The Boys, and unconventional superhero comics, Knighted #1 is an entertaining first issue that challenges the traditional superhero origin story.
