Black Adam #1 (Release Date: June 2022) | DC Comics
The legendary ruler of Kahndaq begins a bold new chapter as Black Adam faces his mortality, his legacy, and the future of his power!
Black Adam #1 launches an ambitious 12-issue limited series from DC Comics, written by acclaimed author Christopher Priest with artwork by Rafa Sandoval. Released in June 2022, this debut issue delivers a darker, character-driven exploration of one of the DC Universe's most powerful and morally complicated figures.
For thousands of years, Teth-Adam, better known as Black Adam, has wielded the extraordinary powers of ancient gods. Feared by his enemies and revered by the people of Kahndaq, he has ruled through a combination of overwhelming strength, determination, and an uncompromising sense of justice.
But even a man with the power of gods cannot escape his own mortality.
When Black Adam is confronted with a devastating personal crisis, he must reconsider everything he believes about power, responsibility, and the legacy he will leave behind. His search for a successor leads him toward Malik White, a young man whose life becomes unexpectedly connected to the future of Black Adam's powers.
As political tensions, ancient mythology, and supernatural forces collide, Black Adam #1 begins a sweeping story that challenges the traditional boundaries between superhero, antihero, and villain.
For readers and collectors interested in Black Adam, Shazam mythology, Justice Society characters, and modern DC Comics, this first issue offers an important starting point for the character's 2022 solo series.
